What I’ve Been Reading Lately

What have you been reading lately? There are SO many great books out there and lets be real, we all get FOMO and need to read all the books! Of course, some people read way more than others and we can only fit in some many books or pages in a day!

I find that sometimes I read soooo much! I will want to do nothing else but read. Other times its like pulling teeth and I’m constantly distracted. I have to remind myself that ITS OKAY to not read. Its okay to sit on the couch for 5 hours binge watching a show instead of reading. Its okay to get lost on Pinterest instead of reading. When reading starts to feel forced then it just isn’t fun and I tend to avoid it like the plague.

So, just a reminder to all my book peeps out there – ITS OKAY TO NOT READ SOMETIMES!

There I said it, we can all move on with our lives now.

Lets dive right in and talk about what I’ve been reading lately! Check it out:

Recent reads

The Vanishing Stair: This was a 4 ⭐ read for me!! I love a good murder mystery and this is just that. Also, anyone else a serious Sherlock Holmes fan? If you are – check out this series. This book is the 2nd book in the series (I think there are 4?). The first book is Truly Devious which was also GREAT!

The Code for Love and Heartbreak: Any YA romance fans out there? This was a sweet read, I really enjoyed it. It was a 4 ⭐ read. Honestly the only thing keeping it from a full 5 star was that the characters were very immature at times which I realize will be the case in YA books but this one actually felt more so than normal. The story was CUTE AS HECK though! Coding club decides to create a code for love and creates a dating app for their high school – of course, things go wrong and its awkward and funny and just really cute!

Holiday in the Hills: Another 4 ⭐ read for me!! I loved this book because it was a light and quick read. It follows a successful author who just went through a break up and is experiencing a writing slump so her agent sends her away to an exotic island to focus on herself. She meets a man and obviously falls in love way too quickly but that’s the fun part right?? Honestly, such a good read! Go check it out to bring you away from this cold and gloomy weather!

House of Salt and Sorrows: THIS WAS A FULL 5 ⭐!!!! This is a fairy-tale retelling and if you know me at all then you know that I love a good retelling. This was spooky, creepy, mysterious, and full of uncertainty. There is magic and curses and you just don’t know who to trust at all. I don’t want to say too much because I don’t want to spoil anything but GO READ THIS if you like a spooky retelling!

Reading now

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue: So this is being hyped everywhere we look and its for good reason. I am slowly reading this one (mostly because I’m just not really feeling like reading right now… not because the book isn’t good). The pacing is a little slow but the actual story its sooooo good!

Reviving the Hawthorn Sisters: I actually put this one aside so I could focus on Addie LaRue but I have read few chapters of this. It seems like its going to have some good family dram/mystery so I am really looking forward to finishing this one!

Well that is my reading update for the month! What have you been reading? Have we read any of the same books?

Chat with me in the comments, I would love to hear from you!

    1. It seriously is!! Always have to remind myself that it’s okay but sometimes is hard! Just have to remember that we can only do so much and we can’t force anything if it’s meant to be enjoyable!!
